Edgefield Secondary School invites Primary 6 students to join the school through the 2026 Direct School Admission – Secondary (DSA-Sec) Exercise.

b. Selection Criteria for all sports • Applicants are medically fit, exhibit aptitude in general athletic abilities and/or sports-specific competencies, and display high levels of motivation and grit.
Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer. All applicants will be required to attend the sports trial specific to the selected sport. Only shortlisted applicants from the sports trial will receive notification via email from the school by 31 July 2026 (Friday) to attend an interview session. |

Physical requirement · Agility and Flexibility assessment to demonstrate physical capability
Sport specific requirement · Students with prior Taekwondo experience are required to demonstrate the Poomsae corresponding to their most recently attained grade. · Students with a Kyorugi background will be required to perform a short shadow sparring sequence, with emphasis on movement, footwork, and kicking techniques. They may also be required to spar with another candidate of similar experience and weight category. · Students without prior Taekwondo experience will be required to perform a predetermined routine comprising basic kicks and hand techniques. |

Physical requirement · Performance test to demonstrate physical ability which would include Agility T-Test, Vertical Jump and Shuttle Run

Sport specific requirement • Demonstrate a range of basic Wushu skills which would include kicks, stances and jumping techniques. • Students with Wushu background will be required to demonstrate a Wushu Individual Event Formulated Routine in Quanshu, Short Weapon or Long Weapon. • Students without Wushu background will be required to demonstrate a predetermined Quanshu routine. |

Selection Criteria • Displays strong passion and keen interest in developing skills and attributes in the areas of innovation. • Exhibits aptitude in high performance capability in creativity and problem solving. • Displays dispositions that will help nurture an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset. • Demonstrates a high level of self-motivation and self-directedness, willingness and openness to attempt and experiment with new and challenging ideas, and alertness to opportunities. • Should have “Excellent” or “Very Good” for conduct grade in Primary 5 and Primary 6. • Active involvement/participation in innovation programmes/competitions in their primary schools or has similar experiences in other platforms. • Portfolios of outstanding achievements or work in the area of innovation will be taken into consideration. Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend in person: • An interview session that includes a situational test where they will be put into a problem-solving scenario. Only shortlisted applicants will receive notification via email from the school by 10 July 2026 (Friday) to attend an interview session. |

LEADERSHIP - Nurturing Compassionate Leaders |

Selection Criteria • Demonstrates the values Compassion, Moral Courage, Sincerity and Honour. • Exhibits strong leadership qualities/skills and has held a leadership position in primary school e.g. Prefects, CCA leaders/Captains, Peer Support Leaders, etc. • Actively volunteers and has made meaningful contributions to their primary schools and the community. • Should have “Excellent” or “Very Good” for conduct grade in Primary 5 and Primary 6. • Leadership and Character Awards such as the Edusave Award for Achievement, Good Leadership and Service (EAGLES) and Edusave Character Award (ECHA) will be taken into consideration. Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer. Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete/attend in person: • A group task; and • A group interview session. Only shortlisted applicants will receive notification via email from the school by 13 July 2026 (Monday) to attend a group task and interview session. |

Programmes & Activities for DSA Leadership Students • To support successful DSA applicants in developing their areas of passion, they would have to serve in one of the Student Leadership bodies for the duration of their studies in Edgefield Secondary School. |
APPLICATION PROCESS
Application for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 6 May 2026, 11am to 2 June 2026, 4.30pm. For more details, please refer to MOE website – www.moe.gov.sg/dsa-sec

Trials / Interview Period |
Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend trials and/or interviews at Edgefield Secondary School between 8 July 2026 and 14 August 2026. Applicants will have to attend separate sessions of trials and/or interviews if they have applied for more than one talent area. |

Selection Outcome |
All applicants will receive their application outcomes between 17 and 28 August 2026. |
|
Exercise School Preference |
Students are to indicate their school preferences from 19 to 23 October 2026. |
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
1. Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student’s aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools’ academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.
2. Please note that meeting all the selection criteria stated above does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.
3. The school’s decision of the DSA-Sec application is final. No appeal or correspondence will be entertained.
4. The school reserves the right not to disclose the reasons for the non-selection of applicants.
5. Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1-4.
6. Successful DSA-Sec candidates who took PSLE are NOT allowed to participate in the annual Secondary One (S1) Posting Exercise. However, if they are eligible for third language and/or course options, they may enter these options during the S1 Option Submission period.
7. International Students (who are not taking the PSLE) are required to take and fulfill the requirements of the Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) to be successful in DSA.
