Character Education through Taekwondo
Taekwondo-infused Curriculum
Our signature Taekwondo (TKD) Education Programme inculcates the qualities of self-discipline, respect for others and self, and perseverance. Implemented in 2011, all students undergo TKD training during curriculum time for 2 periods per week for an hour. Three grading sessions are conducted per year and all students will be able to attain the Junior (Under 16) TKD black belt classification at the end of Year 4. View our Taekwondo video here!

Congratulations to Germaine Tan - Best Sportsgirl for Taekwondo at the 54th Singapore School Sports Council Colours Awards 2024!
Congratulations to Tan Xin Jie Germaine from Secondary 1 who was the recipient of Best Sportsgirl for Taekwondo at the 54th Singapore School Sports Council Colours Awards in 2024.
The Singapore Schools Sports Council Best Sportsgirl is the pinnacle award recognising the overall best athlete in each sport based on local or overseas competitions. The recipient must also demonstrate outstanding achievements and good character.
Germaine represented Singapore in the Australian Open in Brisbane in 2024 and won a gold medal. She also obtained gold medals in the Chuncheon Korea Open 2024, International Taekwondo Masters Open Championships 2024, GetActive! Singapore 2024 Pesta Sukan Taekwondo and Singapore Open Poomsae Championships 2024.
In 2024, Germaine represented Edgefield Sec in the National School Games Taekwondo (Poomsae) Championships C Division Girls and obtained 1st place. She also took part in the Poomsae competition and obtained Silver in the Team category for black belt.
Beyond school, Germaine is also a member of the national taekwondo training squad. She is a role model for her teammates, exhibiting values like excellence, resilience and humility. She embodies inclusivity and team spirit, stepping up for her teammates when they needed support the most.
We are sure her win will be an inspiration to our Edgefielders and many other young athletes!
